In an article by Reddit user jayw, dubbing has become an increasingly popular way to translate and convey the sounds of dubs.
“I know a lot of people who use dubs in their own projects and they like to call dubs anime movies.
It’s not a bad thing, I just find it hard to tell the difference between dubs and anime movies in practice,” jay wrote.
There are currently over 100,000 dubs available on YouTube, with over 10 million people watching them.
The first episode of The Green Garden , a popular series from Netflix’s The Punisher, was dubbed by the Japanese production company BONES Entertainment.
Dubs have been used for the show since at least the 1990s, with the series’ opening scene dubbed into English by an English dubbing team, while the rest of the show was dubbed in Japanese.
In 2016, dubs for seasons two and three of The Punishments , a series from Warner Bros., were dubbed into Spanish by the production company RCA.
One of the most well-known dubbing jobs is for the upcoming season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
The English dub of the episode was dubbed into Portuguese by the team at Cinelux.
The team at BONES created a YouTube video to accompany their English dub, titled Ghost in The Shell: The English Dub of Ghost In The Shell Part 2: Ghost In the Shell Part 1.
Many dubs, however, are not based on the original source material.
For example, in the series One Piece: Pirate Warriors, the Japanese dub was dubbed to English by the English dub team.
Similarly, in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: The Equestrian Edition, the English-subtitled episode of the season was dubbed.
According to Reddit user Rachael, she is the only person who can pronounce the word dub correctly when using a different source.
“[Dubs] are so much more interesting than the movies.
I mean, you can hear the music, you know what I mean?”
“The whole experience of dubbing can be different depending on the source material, but I think it’s really cool to just listen to the dub and just get that sense of immersion.”
